Residents unite to stop closure of Oliver Road
Angry residents who campaigned to stop the closure of Oliver Road have forced the Council to come to its senses. The Council have agreed not to close Oliver Road, but have agreed to traffic calming measures for the road and nearby roads.
Liberal Democrat Councillor Bob Sullivan, who also spoke out against the closure, brought to the attention of the committee the hundreds of local people who signed petitions against the closure.
Focus says: No one who was at the Council meeting, held at the Orient Football Ground, to discuss the issue, was in any doubt that local residents wanted the traffic calming but did not want the road closed.
When people unite together, their voices cannot be ignored. But beware, although it was agreed not to close the road the Council will review it again in a few years time. Given the overwhelming local opposition, why?
Skeltons Park
Following pressure from the Focus Team, the Byron Road entrance to Skeltons Lane Park is to be re-tarmaced to stop it puddling up when it rains.
Park Road
The Focus Team is pleased to see that the drain in Park Road has been cleaned. Residents said it had been blocked for years.
Lea Hall Gardens
Residents in the flats at the top of Lea Hall Gardens have had problems with their water pressure. They could not flush the loo and could not have a bath. The Focus Team took this up and were surprised to find that the water board had been reducing water pressure to save money. The Team have got the Council and the water board to work together to solve the problem.
Leyton High Road - more bins!
The Council has promised more litterbins in the High Road. They have been asked that they be sited near the take-away shops.
Beaumont Estate
The kids play area at the back of All Saints Tower has been left to rot. Following an accident reported to Cllr. Bob Sullivan the Council has decided to close it down.

Crescent Road
The Lib Dem Focus Team arranged a meeting with London & Quadrant (L&Q) Housing Association and Crescent Road residents to discuss the L&Q plans to open Crescents Road to traffic from Leyton Grange. Residents made it known to L&Q that they did not want their road opened up, and questioned the plans. L&Q have gone away to re-look at their plans. Focus Team member Councillor Loretta Hodges said at the meeting that Crescent Road is too narrow for through traffic and that the problem with car parking could not be ignored by L&Q.
The Focus Team will arrange a further meeting to discuss any new proposals.
Tip-Site massive response!
Focus has had a terrific response to the petition to bring back the Tip-Site to Leyton. We have spoken to the Council and put them on notice of the support for the return of the Tip-Site. Focus is bundling up the petitions to send in. If you have not already signed the petition form on the last Focus, then do so now, so that the Council is in no doubt that we want the Tip-Site back.
There's no reason to dump rubbish!

There is no charge for the following: A table and 4 chairs, or 1 double, or 2 single wardrobes, or a bed and mattress.
There will be a charge for larger quantities, depending on how long it takes to clear it. Call CLARENCE to book a collection or a free estimate on 0800 23 23 23.
High Road Crossing Danger!
Have you tried to cross the busy Leyton High Road by the Library at the junction with Ruckholt Road? Well you better get a move on, as the "green man" is only on for 5 seconds given a maximum of 10 seconds to cross safely.
The Focus Team have complained to the Councils traffic engineers to check out the pedestrian phasing of the lights. Older people in particular need more time to cross safely.
